Retaining Wall Waterproofing for Basements and Subgrade Structures
Long-Term Waterproofing
Water ingress through basements and retaining walls can lead to significant structural and environmental challenges. These areas, often in constant contact with moisture or groundwater, demand reliable and durable waterproofing solutions that withstand hydrostatic pressure, shifting soils, and fluctuating environmental conditions. LRM Products provides a seamless, flexible membrane system engineered for long-term performance in subgrade applications, offering peace of mind for commercial projects across Australia.
At LRM, we specialise in retaining wall waterproofing systems tailored to meet the specific requirements of commercial and industrial developments. Our products are Australian made, rigorously tested, and manufactured under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system.
Built for Demanding Subgrade Conditions
Our liquid-applied membranes offer strong adhesion, flexibility, and chemical resistance—making them ideal for:
Retaining Walls
Built into hillsides, coastal environments, or exposed to groundwater
Basements and Below-Grade Walls
New construction or remedial waterproofing
Foundation Sealing
Including pile caps, strip footings, and slabs
Expansion Joints and Plumbing Penetrations
Maintaining watertight integrity across movement-prone or high-risk interfaces
With exceptional elongation, our membranes accommodate substrate movement, ensuring no cracking or delamination over time. Their water-based, VOC-free formulations are safe for confined spaces and environmentally responsible.
Accreditations
Performance Backed by Standards
LRM’s waterproofing systems are tested to key Australian Standards, including:
- AS 4654.1:2012 – Class III external above-ground membrane (UV exposed)
In underground applications, VersEseal is approved for use in mining environments due to its antistatic and flame-resistant properties. The system can also be top coated where exposed or left protected behind retaining structures.
Common Use Cases
Concrete Retaining Walls
Basement Walls and Footings
Seamlessly seals floor-to-wall junctions and pipe penetrations
Water-Exposed Foundations
Withstands positive hydrostatic pressure and corrosive groundwater
Hillside Developments
Protects against water runoff and acidic soil
Expansion Joint Waterproofing
Flexible enough to accommodate structural movement and vibration
Whether used on the outside of residential basements, commercial building envelopes, or infrastructure developments, the LRM Products range delivers robust and long-lasting protection against moisture penetration.
Application and Reinforcement
VersEseal Rapid Build and TerraSeal are applied using brush, roller, or airless spray equipment, and can be reinforced with geo fabric for critical areas such as:
- Floor-to-wall junctions
- Crack repairs
- Expansion joints
- Penetrations and conduits
For large vertical surfaces, VersEseal QuickSet—a dual-component spray system—is available for rapid application and high-build coverage.
General application steps:
- Prepare surface (clean, dry, structurally sound)
- Prime if required (porous or smooth surfaces)
- Apply membrane in multiple coats to achieve required thickness
- Reinforce junctions and penetrations as necessary
- Allow to cure fully before backfilling or enclosing. The membrane should be protected from mechanical damage during backfilling using a suitable protection board (core-flute), or geotextile layer
